Established in 2019, Bora’ana Community Wildlife Conservancy (BCWC) is a community-led, registered Community Based Organization (CBO) covering 66,136 hectares in the Shanta-Abak Division of Lagdera Sub-County, Garissa County.
Founded in response to severe poaching and habitat degradation, BCWC protects globally threatened species—including the endangered reticulated giraffe and the critically endangered hirola antelope.
Through robust local governance, community-led patrols, and sustainable resource management, we actively restore fragile rangeland ecosystems, strengthen climate resilience, and secure water access. By placing the local community at the center of our design processes, BCWC drives sustainable livelihood enterprise developments while fostering a lasting, peaceful coexistence between people, livestock, and wildlife.
